Now that you’ve joined the millions of Americans enrolled in the Medicaid program or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), it’s important to use your new coverage.

If you have questions, contact your state Medicaid or CHIP agency. When you visit these two pages, just scroll down and select your state from the menu at the bottom.

Here are a few more tips that can help get you started:

  • You can contact the member services phone number on your eligibility letter or on the back of your enrollment card.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. They can tell you if they accept Medicaid, CHIP, or the health plan you selected. They also may be able to answer your questions about what services are covered.
  • If you didn’t get an enrollment card and aren’t sure you are covered, contact your state Medicaid or CHIP agency.
  • Your eligibility letter can help you get care or fill a prescription if you haven’t received your enrollment card yet.
